Middle row, from left, Sonya Sanford, Johanna Ford, Dawn Ray, Desiree Singleton, and front center, Patricia "Reaching for the Sky" was the theme for Saturday night's 15th annual cotillion ball at Long's Convention Center introducing 11 young Lansing area women into the world of society and adulthood. The ball is sponsored annually by Les Meres, a group of mothers seeking to promote good citizenship, high ideals, character and friendship as a foundation for their daughters growth. This year's printed program for the cotillion is dedicated to Mrs. Doris Austin, 1350 W. St.

Joseph, who first became active in Les Meres in 1968, when her daughter was preparing to become a 1974 debutante, and has served as substitute mother for other debutantes. This year's debs: Patricia Jeanette Bracy, 3014 N. Waverly, daughter of Mrs. Frances Bracy and Harman Bracy, a senior at Sexton High School with interests in writing and television and radio broadcasting. After graduation, she plans to attend Western Michigan University to pursue communication studies or join the Air Force.

Cheri D'Ann Dubose, 2726 Wabash, daughter Mr. and Mrs. Cullen Dubose, a senior at Everett High School and cheerleader for three years. She is vice president of the Everett honor society and plans to attend Georgia Tech to study business or engineering. Johanna Marie Ford, 3610 W.

Holmes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Ford, a senior at Hill Community High School who is involved in cheerleading. track, and pep club. She is a check filer at Michigan National Bank and plans to attend Northwood Institute or Ferris State College to study data processing.

Gail Michelle McFadden of Williamston, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul McFadden, a senior at Williamston High School. She has been active with the basketball, track, and cross-country teams and won first place in a Michigan Speech and Hearing Association essay contest. She is a bookkeeper employed by the state of Michigan and would like to continue her studies at Michigan State University or Gallaudet College for the deaf in Washington, D.C.

Michelle Renee Prophet, 1751 Nottingham, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Matthew Prophet, a senior at Sexton High School and member of the Student Council, Helping Hand Club, band, Debate Club and other groups. She is in her fifth year of cheerleading and plans to attend Michigan State University to pursue a career in law. Dawn Ray, 2100 W.

Hillsdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin S. Ray, is the last of five daughters to be presented as Les Meres debutantes. She is a senior at Sexton High School where she has received a letter for scholastic achievement and been girl's varsity tennis team captain.

She plans to attend college and study physical therapy. Renee Michelle Reed, 2109 Rockway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James A. Reed is a senionat Hill Community High School where she is in the Friends Club, Pep Club and was a member of one of the intramural volleyball teams.

She is a member of the Pashami dancers and plans to attend Western Michigan University to study business management. Natalie Jeanne Riddle, 301 West, is the daughter of Ralph E. Riddle and the late Vivian Riddle. She is a senior at Sexton High School where she is a senior representative for Student Council and a member of the Helping Hands and Pep Clubs. She plans to attend the University of Michigan or Michigan State University ahd major in business administration. Sonya Charmelle Sanford, 3920 Sheffield daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanford Jr. She is a senior at Hill Community High School where she has played basketball, been on the homecoming court, and won a Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) good citizenship award.

A dancer, she plans to attend Michigan State University and major in dance or interior design. Desiree Antoinette Singleton, 3600 Christine daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Singleton and senior at Sexton High School. She has been in Pep Club, Helping Hands Club, and Humane Society, and is senior class president.

She plans to attend Tennessee State University to study business administration. Darelyn Colleen Sudduth, 1524 W. Allegan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Coleman Sudduth, a senior at Sexton High School active in cheerleading, Helping Hands, Pep Club, Student Council, and president of the Black History Club.
