The momentum was quickly squelched, however, as the Panthers used its press to force a pair of 10-second calls and seven points by Laughlin to build a 45-31 lead. "They were rebounding really well in the first half," Laughlin said.

"Then coach put us in a 2-3 zone and told us to seal the middle and we did a better job. "Our press doesn't allow other teams to get into their offense and it frustrates them. Seventy-five percent of our defense is played with the press, I bet A lot of it is our quickness. We don't really have a center, we're all either guards or small forwards." DeWitt's press forced 12 turnovers. Unable to get any flow in its offense, P-W made just 21-58 shots from the floor including 1-12 from 3-point land.

Meanwhile, DeWitt was 24-47 from the field and added 12-14 free throws. Jay Leitz added 14 points for DeWitt. Piggott added 12 rebounds, 10 offensive, to his 24 points. Despite the 12-0 mark, Lutzke said his team is keeping a level head. "We haven't won anything yet," the coach said.

"We haven't won a league title, nothing. But the kids have kept focused. We're ranked high and we're undefeated, but the players are the least excited about it all." Steve Myers scored 19 points and Griffin Loynes 18 for Haslett, which held a 37-15 half-time lead. Matt Goodemoot and Mark Cu-sack each scored 11 points for Lakewood (3-8) and Elsie Blake had 10 points.

Lakewood 57. in first Vikings use 5 1-point second half to stop East Lansing, 81-46 Lansing State Journal Everett exploded for 5 1 points in the second half and held onto its lead in the Capital Area Conference with an 81-46 prep basketball victory over East Lansing Tuesday at Everett. Every player scored for Everett (6-1, 10-2), which had its highest regulation scoring total of the season. The Vikings had 96 points in a double-overtime victory at Flint Central to open the season, but had 78 as its previous best in regulation.

Everett, ranked honorable mention in the AP Class A poll, lost its only two games by a total of three points. Carl Rosario scored 14 points and had six rebounds for the Vikings, winners of five in a row. Desmond Ferguson scored 13 points and Eric Thompson 12.
