Livingston County landowners will have higher taxes in 1989. Assessment on residential properties increased 11.5 percent, commercial assessment increased 8.9 percent and agricultural was up 6 percent, said Gerakl Markey, county equalization director. Markey said land that borders Oakland County is especially in demand.

During the past two years, he said, sales of nearly 600 homes in Brighton Township had a cash value of $4.5 million. Lansing's financial picture got some fine-tuning by Finance Director Steve Duarte this week but the outlook is still good, he told the City Council.
