The directors of this research predicted around 14 coronaries among the men who had only one risk factor.

There were only three. Three of the main risk factors are high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol level and overweight. Among those who had several coronary strikes against them, about 16 heart attacks had been expected but only cne occurred. These were replaced with foods which provide unsaturated fatty acids such as corn oil, fish, grains, poultry and leaner meats such as veal. The low number of heart attacks among the middle-aged men following this diet was dramatic. Instead of 23 coronaries which had been predicted there were only five.
