POLLY'S POINTERS Divorced Men's Club Formed to Save Marriages, Counsel Snap-Up Curtains Can Make Cleaning Less Difficult "Now a divorced man will have somebody to listen to him and talk to him. But now the husband has a place to take his troubles.

It's called the Divorced Men's Club. Still in its formative stages, the organization plans to provide members with a com closing $50 dollar checks for the first year's membership dues. Dorfman who had expected one or two queries a day had rented a tiny office. He was driven from it in four days by the deluge of responses from all over the country. WANT TO SAVE MARRIAGE Dorfman also received a number of letters from women, many of them asking if there was a sister organization for divorcees or telling him of the need for one.

He said most of the women correspondents seemed to be in favor of the club. "We want to save as many marriages as we possibly can," he explained. "If a man goes back to his wife he gets his $50 back." Dorfman's profile of divorced males doesn't imply the pou-ular conception a gay blade enjoying a second bachelorhood. "A husband who is paying child support can't afford too much," Dorfman said. "Many times its just a furnished room.

His friends start avoiding him. They're married and their wives don't want a divorced man hanging around their husbands. "He's without not only a wife, but children, a home, and longtime friends. So what does the divorced man do? He goes to a bar," Dorfman said he felt the in IT I Two Convenient Locations vide each other with mutual understanding and assistance in their common crisis, a sort of Divorced Man's Anonymous. COUNSELING HELP In addition, a panel of psychological and religious experts will be available to members who seek counseling.

"The club hopes to be able to help its members find out why they failed in their marriages," he added- But Dorfman feels that an even more important function of the club is to act as a lobby to correct inequities in present divorce laws. He said they are heavily weighted against the husband. If response is any indication of need, there was a crying one for the Divorced Men's Club. equities in divorce laws include those relating to alimony and support payments which strip a man of his income or send him to jail because he can not meet them, community property laws which in effect, give the wife all the property; and child custody practices which allow an unfit mother-custody of the children and do not protect the father's visitation rights. "We want the laws to give a man an even break," he said. Dorfman was divorced in 1961, and it was this experience that prompted him to form the organization. He hopes eventually to have a hotel for divorced men which would provide recreational facilities for them and their children. He also hopes to set up other clubs across the country.

According to the club's pros: pectus, it is an organization "to help divorced men find themselves and new goals in life." In the club's headquarters in Los Angeles, founder Al Dorf-man put it this way: FOUR TO SIX Children begin to read; play becomes more complex. Dolls and dollhouses, games, craft and construction sets among others please this group. SIX TO EIGHT Skills are developing.

Sewing materials, carpenter tools or science toys are popular. Sleds, skates and playground equipment can be used. EIGHT TO TEN Hobbies develop. Model building sets and more complicated tools can be used. The National Safety Council recommends that a bicycle or electric train should not be given before a child is eight.

OVER TEN Play habits, hobbies and sports learned as youngsters continue to develop. There is a growing interest in competition and skill perfection (e.g., archery sets, target shooting and dart games). It is recommended that the child be not burdened with too many toys which require adult supervision. He should have a variety of playthings, mostly of a kind he can safely play with by himself. According to authorities, pri mary consideration should be given to a child's age and to toys which are not dangerous for him to handle. INFANTS Babies under one like things with bright colors, shapes they can explore and textures they can feel.

Such toys include stuffed animals and dolls, squeak toys, sturdy rattles. balls and even nonbreakable cups or other smooth objects. ONE TO TWO A child now investigates things around him. Like infants, toddlers put almost everything into their mouths. Playthings that can be taken apart and put together easily (such as nests of blocks or boxes), pegboards and push-pull toys, are suitable.

TWO TO THREE These children are more experimental. Things with which to build and toys that can be shared are desirable. A few are: building blocks, wooden animals and kiddie cars or tricycles. THREE TO FOUR This is an imitative age. Toys which encourage make-believe aid in learning.

Toys should be sturdy. In this group are small brooms, carpet sweepers, garden tools, doctor's or nurse's kits.
