The senate business committee, raising questions concerning the Washington doctor's qualifications, failed earlier to report the tion to the floor for confirmation, thus beclouding the appointee's status.

Outright rejection would have made it impossible for DeKleine to take the position. McCallum said he was assured there would be a quorum when the senate convenes Monday for the business of adjourning the special session finally. Former Action Held "Mistake" "If we don't want to confirm him, let's do it in open session, the way it should be done," McCallum said. "And if we do confirm him, we'll do that in open session. It was a mistake to do what we did before -just to leave it dangling in midair.

I'm very sure there will be quorum Monday 50 we can dispose of the matter." Since adjournment of the active session, national Red Cross officials have supplied letters not only declaring Doctor DeKleine's retirement from that organization was entirely regular but praising him highly as public health program administrator. The legislature adjourned February 18, to meet again March 13 and dispose of any matters which might arise meanwhile. Since there have been no vetoes of its measures, the only business left will be the confirmation or rejection of Doctor DeKleine. Only a handful of members of the house is expected, since the house has no work of its own and is not concerned with confirmation matters. KELLY TALKS SATURDAY AT MT.

Doctor Guenther, brought here by the Musicians' league, spoke in the music auditorium and while his talk WaS addressed primarily to music teachers his illustrations at the piano and his humorous comments on, elementary music trends were enjoyed by others. "Children today know and hear the best said the speaker, "but they don't always get it in their lessons. There is too much interference from mothers who want the child to play the classics -or an abbreviated version of them -before the child is ready." He added, "The only thing in which Europe is superior to America is that no European mother would think of being present at her child's music lesson.

I admire mothers in general but when it comes to mothers influencing music teachers and consequently their children's music education, I dislike them very much."
