The device, featured in Life magazine several months ago and manufactured in San Gabriel, will soon go on sale in Lansing. The kite has no struts or tail, and is flown on an entirely different principle than the ordinary kite. It is composed of two cardboard discs held about 18 inches apart by a propeller-like shaft. The device spins on a wooden shaft which goes through its center. A wire running through the wooden axle allows the kite to spin.

The kite is suspended in flight by light nylon threads attached to either end of the axle. To launch it. the operator merely tosses the kite into the air. spinning it backwards at the same time. The wind catches it.

MEN'S PAJAMAS liking and perhaps on democratic pinciples. But no, our peacemakers have blundered every job, practically, undertaken, even Palestine partitioning. We fell in head first and now we are endeavoring to force trusteeship which only goes to show we lack leadership and those we are entrusting the job to are not big enough.

Blundering around today may get us into a fighting war tomorrow. Blunders cannot be committed time and time again, and we all want peace and also to rid others and ourselves of this germ or disease Communism. If left unmolested it is like leaving a spoilt apple in a crate of good ones. Eventually in time they are all spoilt, now we must clean house at home and must take them off the ballot as they are no political party one that any real American would care to vote for. Communists have no respect for civil liberties, freedom or fairness.

Now is the time for every American man and woman to stand up and make his or her wants known. President Hannah of M. S. C. says there is only one known Communist there.

Well, let's hope this is true, but why leave him? In time he can accomplish as much as an army of Communists. Our government officials are morally obligated to take the lead, so I say untie hands of the FBI. Communists are entitled to no protection. Visit our hospitals, it may bring to mind that we want peace, not war. CHARLES H. COLL, Howell, Mich. 2.77 What Is Man? Editor. The State Journal: We easily distinguish the difference between what we call the lower animals and the bi-furcated mammal called Man.

The great mass of the animal kingdom knows nothing of any moral law, are under no compulsion to treat fairly any other of the animals. Their main effort is to secure food and places that render them safe from their enemies. The animal known as Man shares that same fear, and with acquired knowledge makes preparations for his safety. Food, clothing and shelter are necessary for his health and physical welfare. But while those things are necessary to the safety of life, man needs more than Just those forms of protection.

Robinson Crusoe was safe, in a way. but what kind of a life did he lead till his new man came? a new man, called Friday. Man must live in the company of his kind, and MAN must live, if society is to be a progressive form of life, and the life of a community and the life of a NATION, must be governed by the MORAL law. the law of social justice. Under that law, man progresses unto higher and still higher forms of social and political cooperation.

Education leads the world of human beings into the realms of art. literature and science, the ART of FELLOWSHIP, which we term CIVILIZATION. The Jungle man has no dreams of a higher form of existence and is content with the environment in which he lives, but the modern man dreams of still better awl safer forms of organized society. Under the reigns of ancient kings and their defenders, the serfs and slaves had no hopes for a better form of life, and never till a Declaration of Independence, a challenge to the kingly rule, was made by the leaders in that great Revolution, in the year 1776. That marked a new era in the progressive mind of man, and a better form of social life was promised.

Lansing. Well-F ed Security Editor, The Stat Journal: This is a reply to a letter entitled "The Multitudes Suffer," in the State Journal of Sunday, April 25. Let's not make the same mistake that we made in World War I. It is the underfed person that causes most of the wars because they don't have to lose by war and there is a great chance of improvement no matter who wins. These are the people who elected Hitler and Stalin to power.

A discontented, hungry and starving people of Germany took in the propaganda of Hitler as if it was food to satisfy their hunger. There is the old saying, that a well-fed person is contented and doesn't care what kind of government exists as long as he is happy. So the leest we can do is to help or at least try to feed these starving people of Europe until we can set them back upon their feet and build up a cement wall across the border of Russia to prevent Communists from stealing the show. It takes more than an army to prevent a war. but it takes just a handful of fools to start one.

Thic money going to Europe is not being wasted, and it is helping to build up our defense rather tnan weakening our defense. Europe is our first line of defense. Once Europe is lost and completely dominated by Communists there will npver be peace in the world until it is defeated and destroyed. Remember, Russia is no weak nor small nation. In resources and as a self-sufficient nation she ranks second to the United States.

If the government wants to spend lots of money, how about spending it on the poor, disabled, blind people, on old age pensions, those who are in the county poor-house and including all veterans of both wars who come under these headings instead of spending it on those veterans who are capable of working and who think that the world owes them a living. ROBERT VALENTINE Lansing Out with Communists Editor. The State Journal: We are today called upon to finance 16 nations or more to fight Communism but all this would be unnecessary if we had told Joe Stalin and his gang to just hold up taking anything they wanted and placing any nation under control of the Communists against their wishes. And we could get Germany into line of forming a new government of their own ova, umcvuj Mna.u i wind; slight pressure on the control stick will cause it to streak diagonally across the skjr It can be made to dive to within a few feet of the ground and will then climb back to flight level.
