Child Guidance Club Installs New Officers Nosegay cards marked each place for the 43 members attending the installation dinner Monday evening of Child Guidance club in the pine room of the New Hut. Spring flowers made the floral centerpiece, flanked by lighted white tapers. Retiring officers and officers-elect were seated at the head table. Installed as new president was Mrs. Ross Geahan.

Mrs. Otto Bauer, retiring president, did the honors. Mrs. Geahan was attired in a brown silk faille suit with the new flared belt. Her white straw sailor had brown piping on the brim and was decked with a large white tulle pompon and brown and white veiling.

Mrs. Bauer wore a navy and white print dress with a white straw offthe-face hat with ruching framing the open crown. She wore navy accessories and a corsage of pink carnations with silver ribbon. A gift of silver was presented to her. Other new officers are Walter Arndt, vice president; Mrs.

Dallas Spencer, treasurer; Mrs. Edwin Bintz, recording secretary; Mrs. Howard Gee, corresponding secretary. New members were introduced and also the 10 charter members present. Mrs.

Charles Drumm read a history of the club. General chairman of the banquet was Mrs. Wesley Dye, assisted by Mrs. M. E.

Southworth, Mrs. Paul Clayton, Mrs. Keith Gardner, Mrs. Charles Drumm, Mrs. Edwin Bintz and Mrs.

JOURNAL May 25, 1948 1 Sparrow Board Plans Luncheon Party June: 2 A luncheon bid proferred by the Edward W. Sparrow hospital board for June 2 at the Nurses home was relayed to members of junior division of Edward W.

Sparrow hospital attending their final meeting of the season Monday in the children's home on Lesher place. Reservations will be accepted until May 31 for the party. All members of the Women's Hospital association of the hospital have been invited. Work of junior division began at 10 a. m.

with a noon luncheon served by the hospital committee, headed by Mrs. George A. Andros. Mrs. William D.

Whitmore was chosen new president and will begin her year in June. Others who will work with her are Mrs. Ron Weger, vice persident; Mrs. Walter L. Scutt, second vice persident; Mrs.

James J. Edwards, secretary: Mrs. Red Drennan, corresponding secretary, a and Mrs. Ed Berry, treasurer. Mrs.

Wayne D. Foster, retiring president, conducting the business session. Reports were given by Mrs Robert O. Leyrer, treasurer; Mrs. K.

Lansingite Named To State Club Post One officer of the State Federation of Business and Professional Women's Clubs, which met Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Grand Rapids, is a Lansingite, Miss Edith Potter, who will assume duties of recording secretary. Miss Potter is a past president of the Lansing club and has been on the state executive board.

U-M Alumnae Pick Officers For New Year Mrs. William Wise was chosen to head the Lansing University of Michigan alumnae for the new year Monday evening during the group's annual picnic held in the Forestry cabin at Michiran, State college. Assisting 1948-49 will be Mrs. Richard Custer, vice president, Mrs. Gordon secretary; Miss Dorothy Stophlet, treasurer; Miss Irma Smith, senior councillor, and Mrs.

J. Miller, junior councillor. EST Guest speaker was Doris Lacey, exchange teacher EngMisom land who plans to return to her country late this summer. When asked to compare the British and American educational systems, Miss Lacey said, "We are educating children to live in Britain and you are educating them to live in America A definite comparison would be unfair." In speaking about the British school system she said that after elementary school. students are chosen by their abilities for the three classes of secondary schools set up by the government--academic, technical or commercial.
