Leslie Age 66, passed away on Friday, May 12, 1995. Before retirement he was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone for 30 years. He was married to Cheryl K. for 39 years. He was a life member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and also a member of the American Legion of Leslie.

He served six years in the U.S. Air Force. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl; 3 daughters, Ann (Cary) Howard, Barbara (Gary) Ammer-man, and Diane (Anthony) Dalto; 2 sons, Bruce Alger (Teresa) Wildey and Christopher A. (Dawn) Wildey; 10 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 1 brother, James (Susan) Wildey; and 1 sister, Lois (Marvin) Jordan. The funeral service will be held at the Montgomery-Luecht Funeral Home on Tuesday, May 16, at 10 a.m.

with the Pastor Edward LInsley officiating. WARDELL, GERALD LINDLEY Fort Myers, FL Age 85, died April 28, 1995 in Ft Myers. He is survived by his wife, Enid; sons, Marvin L.

Wardell of Okemos and Gerald R. Wardell of Haslett; step-son, John Courtney of Fernan Dinan Beach, FL; and grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bradley and Jeremy. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Mr. Wardell was a Mechanical Engineering graduate of the University of Michigan and spent his career as Engineering Manager at American Motors in Detroit and Chief Engineer at LasCrosse Cooler Co.

Mr. Starr was a veteran of World War II, serv ing in the United States Army Air Corp; member and past Commander of Murphy Evans V.F.W.

Post 6894 of Dansville; and past Commander and current member of Mason V.F.W. Jean R. Anderson Post 7309. Mr. Starr was self employed for many years, later working as a grounds keeper at the Ingham County Fair Grounds.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Dor-otha; 3 daughters, Janice Starr of Lansing, Jennifer (Stanley) Jordan and Jill (David) Elenbaas, both of Mason; son, Joseph Starr of Mason; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; 2 brothers, Roy of Mason and Robert of Arizona; sister, Marjorie Newman of Florida. GURD, JAMES S. Holt, Ml Age 50, passed away on May 12, 1995. He was born in Lansing on June 2, 1944, and has been a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Holt High School, and was a veteran of Vietnam, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He was formerly employed with Atlas Drop Forge, and was currently associated with Craig Corey Travel Service. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roger Gurd in 1986. Surviving are parents, Gladys and Harvey Gurd of Holt; brother, Harvey J. (Jack) Gurd of Holt; nieces and nephews; uncle, Virgil (Mildred) Sample of DeWitt; aunt, Grace Sample of Lansing; several cousins. Religious services will be conducted by The Rev.

Joseph D. Huston at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, 1995 at the Holt United Methodist Church, 2321 N. Aurelius Rd. The family will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley HoltDelhi Chapel from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

Monday. Memorial contributions may be made to Holt United Methodist Church or to the American Heart Association. Funoralc BOEHME, H.C. "HARV" Mason Born August 8, 1913 in Vermillion County, IL; died May 12, 1995 at the age of 81. One of 12 children, Mr.

Boehme was a retired farmerrealtor. He was a former member of B.P.O.E. 196, as well as the Square square dance club and the Les' Danseurs dance group. Mr. Boehme enjoyed horses, golf, baseball and the country life.

He was a quite and gentle man, and we will miss him. Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Eleanor; 1 daughter, Linda (Stanley) Holmes of Bradenton, FL; 1 son, Scott (Martha) of East Lansing; 5 grandchildren, Kevin Holmes, Kim-berly (Scott) Rogers, Keith (Dorothy) Holmes, Kyle Holmes and Joshua Boehme; 1 great granddaughter, Kelsey Rogers; 2 brothers, Everett of Brooksvllle, FL, Wayne and 1 sister, Doris Lingley, both of Hoopston, IL; and many nieces and nephews. Boehme. DARLINGTON, IRENE E. Okemos Age 91, died May 11, 1995 after a brief illness, at the home of her daughter. Born in Delaware Palms, MI, March 15, 1904, the daughter of the late William Robert and Estella (Evans) Young of Deck-erville. A life long resident of Deck-erville, MI, where she was past matron and life member of the Marion Chapter 171 O.E.S.

Mrs. Darlington moved to live with her daughter several years ago. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard J. Darlington (1971) and sister, Pearl E. Burgett (1930).

Surviving are sister, Bertha Lincoln of Port Huron; son, William Wayne (Ruth) Darlington of Royal Oak; daughter, Ilaine (Max) Dean of Okemos; 3 grandchildren, Dennis W. (Jan) Darlington of Marina Del Rey, CA, Diane (Rev. Stephen C) White of Highland and Roger A. (Betty) Dean of Okemos; 5 great grandchildren, Amanda (Raymond) Ther-iault of Wixom, Jackie and Corey Dean of Okemos, and Christopher and Brian White of Highland. MANN, HAZEL HARVEY East Lansing Age 92, died Thursday, May 11, 1995. She was born to George and Margaret Harvey January 9, 1903, on the beautiful Old Mission Peninsula in Grand Traverse County, MI. After attending Ogdensburg rural school, she graduated from Traverse City High School and received her B.S. from Western Michigan University. She enjoyed over 34 years of teaching elementary pupils in Bates, Battle Creek, Traverse City and Lincoln Park.

She has resided in East Lansing for the last several years. In 1944 she was married to Arthur Mann, who predeceased her in 1980. She is survived by her sister, Gladys Gainer of East Lansing; and 2 nephews, Gordon Gainer of East Lansing and Ronald Gainer of Arlington, VA; 2 great nephews, Gregory Gainer of Res-ton, VA and Geoffrey Gainer of San Francisco, CA; and 2 great nieces, Jennifer Crites and Kristin DeVries, both of Okemos. She is a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church and always enjoyed taking an active part in its ministry. She was most recently a member of Lin-' coin Park First Methodist.

She was born February 12, 1925 in Portland, MI the daughter of John and Fern (Parks) Peake. She was a member of the Grand Ledge Church of God. Her loving smile and very caring ways for other people will be greatly missed by her 3 sons, Rev. John (Brenda) Lamb and Michael (Marsha) Lamb, all of New Carlisle, OH, Arv (Pam) Pettit of Grand Ledge; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 4 brothers, Lyle (Darlene) Peake, Vaughn (Catherine) Peake and Wayne (Helen) Peake, all of Grand Ledge, Kenneth (Caroline) Peake of St. Johns; 2 sisters, Lula (Paul) Janes of Grand Ledge, Shirley Quick of Haslett; several nieces and nephews.

Gladstone retired from the City of Lansing in 1971. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Cheryl (1971). Portland Formerly off Eagle Age 87, died May 12, 1995 at a Lansing hospital. He was born in Sebewa July 14, 1907, the son of Leon and Fannie (Snyder) Moyer. He was married in 1931 to Helen Volk. He was a retired farmer and construction worker, a member of Farm Bureau and North Eagle Cemetery Society. Survived by a son, Bill (Jackie) Moyer, a daughter, Betty (Keith) Stephenson; 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sisters, Margaret Smith, Thelma Knox, Myrtle Wilcox, Maude Janson; and brothers, Russell, Theron and Herbert Moyer. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 15, 1 p.m. at the Gorsline-Runciman Co. Neller Chapel, 210 Bridge St, Portland, with Pastor J. Robert Anderson of Laingsburg United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in North Eagle Cemetery, Eagle. GaEEuG BRATTIN, JOHN Okemos John Brat-tin, age 79, died May 6, 1995 at the home of his daughter, Stella, near Denver, CO. A prominent Lansing area attorney for over 55 years, he was a tireless worker in church and community programs, especially programs promoting peace and social justice.

John was a graduate of East Lansing High School, M.S.U., and the of Law School. He was a conscientious objector in World War II. For over 50 years, John was an attorney for the MSU Employees Credit Union. He was also attorney Jor the East Lansing Savings and Loan, and was instrumental in negotiating the first mortgage for a non-white citizen in East Lansing, and in getting "open occupancy standards" in East Lansing. He was member of Edgewood United Church; and also served on the ifoards of many civic and charitable "Organizations, including Lansing Mental Health Center, East Lansing School Board, the Lansing branch of the A.C.L.U.

and the Edgewood yillage Housing Project, which pro--vides affordable housing for low land middle income families. He was active in the formation of the XJreater Lansing Community Orga-tiization in the 1960s, which worked ior equal rights for all Lansing area tdtizens. In 1962, he received the Greater Lansing Human Relations Award of the Community Services Council. John was an organizer of Jhe first citizens' protest against atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons in the Lansing area. Lansing A lifelong resident of Lansing, Mrs. Hansen was born July 14, 1919 in Highland Park; died May 13, 1995 at the age of 75. She was a June 1937 graduate of Eastern High School and was formerly employed at Auto-Owners Insurance Company. Mrs. Hansen was a long time and active member of Pilgrim Congregational Church (U.C.C.) and served on several boards; and was a former member of Junior Division of Sparrow Hospital.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Melvin 1 son, Larry J. (Carol) of Wooster, OH; 4 grandchildren, Julie C. and Brian J. Hansen, Lindsay and Ryan Banks; step-mother, Beatrice Watson of Chippewa Lake; 1 brother, Robert R. Watson Jr.

MAY, LESTER A. Williamston A resident of Williamston for 58 years, Mr. May was born May 29, 1913 in Eaton Rapids; died May 13, 1995 at the age of 81. He graduated in 1935 from Ferris State College with a degree in Pharmacy and became a Registered Pharmacist Mr. May owned and operated May's Drug Store for 39 years, and had retired in 1980.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Mildred; 1 daughter, Sharon (Gary) Showerman of Williamston; 1 son, Warren (Jennifer) May of Middleton, WI; 4 grandchildren, Wanda (William) Kester of Lansing, Todd (Debbie) Shower-man of Williamston, Sara May of Denver Co, and David (Jeanine) May of Kentucky; 1 sister, Ila Clark of Charlotte; 3 great grandchildren, Daneille, Jim and Ashley Sokol of Williamston. She was born on February 18, 1900 in Norway, MI, and had lived in the Detroit area for most of her life before moving to Jackson six years ago. She was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and the Daughters of the Amer-. ican Revolution. In 1921, she married Cass A. Burris, who preceded her in death in 1983.
