"He scooped up the facts, and if there was a breaking story he was the man you wanted to help out." Frazier also delighted In tormenting editors and colleagues with his humor. When asked once to write shorter beginnings, or leads, to his stories, Frazier responded in an obituary with: "Dead.

That's what (name here) was Sunday." The joke never was printed but was the talk of the newsroom. Frazier also was known for teasing other reporters by writing false letters that poked fun at stories they had done. A frequent target was former Onlooker writer Jim Hough. Hough frequently attended Detroit Tiger ballgames with his son. During one visit, Tiger Alex Johnson tossed a ball to Hough's son-Hough responded by writing a column about the incident outlining how baseball players were misunderstood.

A week later, Hough received a letter postmarked from Detroit Inside was a handwritten note reading: "Mr. Hough, (former Tiger player) Dick McAuliffe told me if I gave your kid a ball, you'd give me a write-up in the paper." Hough right away knew who sent him the letter. Frazier rarely was seen without his trademark bow tie. He had worn them since high school, before World War II, and when asked why would reply: "I like soup, and you never spill soup on a bow tie." In a story on the neckwear, he later admitted he didn't have a better answer, he just liked the way they wore. Upon retiring, Frazier took on a number of projects, including gardening and public speaking.

An avid historian who had attended Michigan State, he also helped Delta Township erect a historical marker. At the time of his death, Frazier was putting the finishing touches on a book highlighting the history of the Ingham County Bar Association. He also was a longtime member of the Greater Lansing Historical Society and the Eaton County Park Commission, where he once served as vice president Frazier is survived by his wife, Jean; son, David; daughter, Jane Frazier Meddaugh; and mother, Doris.
