Born March 25, 1952, in Lansing, the son of Jesse and Norma (Ellsworth) Howard, Robert attended Sexton School in Lansing and 1951, in Fairfield, AL, to J. R. and Zelia Griffin and passed away July 20, 2000. He was a retiree of General Motors Age 89, died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Ing-h a Regional Medical Center. Dr.

Useem was Professor of Sociology at Michigan Age 75, died July 20, 2000. Born July 23, 1924, in Dansville, Mr. Anderson was the retired co-owner of Anderson Fertilizer Blissfield and Co. of Owosso and SHANE, BARBARA JEAN Grand Ledge Mrs. Shane, age 73, passed away July 21, 2000, in Lansing, MI.

Barbara was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School, Class of 1945, and graduated from L.C.C. in 1997 with nigh honors. She was a member of the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church where she was very active in the church music program and choir and also active in the Stephen Ministry. She was a member of the Choral Bells Treb-leaires and the Grand Ledge Chapter of P.E.O. O.E., and was a great lover of cats.

Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Gerald 2 sons, Steven G. (Wendy) of Grand Ledge and Jeffrey L. (Judv) of Williamston; 1 daughter, Carole J. Shane (Michael) Shell of Boyne City; 6 grandchildren, Ruben Shane-Shell and Patrick, Nicholas, Trevor, Rachel and Ryan Shane; 2 cousins, Dr. Lee Morgan of Warren and Alice Lance of Coldwater; and 2 aunts, June (Bill) Tibbits of South Bend, IN, and Rev.

Fern (Douglas) Richards of Caro, MI. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank J. and Reva (Lud-brook) Bedell. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 11 a.m. at the Grand Ledge First United Methodist Church, 411 Harrison with Rev.

and Alma Evans Anderson, Hugh died in Lansing on July 20, 2000. Hugh is survived by his younger brother, George Axel (Janine Jarve-la) of Arlington, TX. For 28 years, Hugh was an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Michigan, 1960-1988. His assignments included State Affairs, the Public Service Commission, The Uninsured Motorists Fund, directing the Attorney General's investigation of the Highway Department in 1967, the Highway Department one-man grand jury, the Executive Division, and the Environmental and Special Litigation Division. In 1973 he became Assistant in Charge of the Special Litigation Division, representing the Attorney General in utility matters, serving there until his retirement.

Hugh graduated from Redford High School in Detroit ('51) and from the University of Michigan (B.A. in Philosophy 55, J.D. 458). He practiced law with Clark, Klein, Brucker, and Waples in Detroit, 1958-1959, before joining the Attorney General's staff. Hugh was an avid duplicate bridge player and had been an ACBL Life Master for 25 years.

In 1967 and 1970 he was a member of the International Guts Frisbee Championship Team, "The Foul Five." Hugh's wife, Margaret (Peg) and daughters, Julie (of Lansing) and Ann-Marie (of San Francisco) will receive friends at the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel on Sunday, July 23, 2000 from 2 to 4 p.m. Burial will be pri-vate. Arrangements by Estes-Leadley. HENRY, IRENE E. Flint was a resident of Perry all of his life.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps; was a marketing Manager for Duct, and had previously worked for the Ingham County Sheriff's Department as a Deputy Sheriff. Surviving are his wife, Kelly Huntley of Perry; children, Nicholas (Kelly) Howard of Warren, Jessica Howard of Potterville, Sean Howard of Potterville, and Tara Howard of Perry; stepdaughter and stepson, Heather and Randy Hall; grandchildren, Nicholas and Mikayla Howard and Brandon Hall; 1 brother, Carl (Tam-ara) Howard of Mason; 1 sister, Can-dace Stemen of Holly Hills, FL. He was predeceased by his parents and his stepfather, Barney Push, Jr. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 24, 6 p.m.

Lansing Age 86, passed away on July 21, 2000.

She was born on July 15, 1914, in Bay City, and had been a resident of the Lansing area for most of her life. Mrs. Dimitroff was preceded in death by her husband, Dan in 1978, and by her parents. Surviving are 2 sons, Allan and Dan Dimitroff, all of Lansing. A funeral service will be conducted by the Rev.

VonBUBLA, LOUIS Newaygo, Ml Formerly of Lansing State University from 1949 to r981, and chaired the Department from 1959 to 1965. Dr. Useem previously served on the faculties of the University of South Dakota, Barnard College of Columbia University, and the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Useem was an expert on intercul-tural affairs, particularly on South and Southeast Asia.

He consulted with the U.S. Departments of State and Interior, and the East-West Center for Cultural and Technical Interchange in Honolulu, Hawaii. He served in the Pacific as a Lieutenant in the United States Navy from 1942-1945, and returned to the Palau archipelago from 1946 to 1948 to assist in post-war reconstruction. Dr. Useem received a Ph.D.

from the University of Wisconsin in 1939, and a B.A. from UCLA in 1934. Dr. Useem is survived by his wife of 60 years, Dr. Ruth Hill Useem, Professor Emeritus, Michigan State University.

Also surviving are son, Michael Useem of Merion, PA, Howard Useem of Annandale, VA, and Bert Useem of Albuquerque, NM; seven grandchildren; and a niece, Joyce Gould of Burbank, CA. Burial will be private. A memorial gathering will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by Gorsline-Runciman Co. East Chapel, East Lansing.

KIDDER, MARY W. (GUELLA) Willoughby, OH Formerly of Cleveland, OH Ase 75, resident of Willoughby for 15 years, died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Hospice of Western Reserve, Cleveland. Mary was born September 8, 1924, in Easton, PA. She was a retired bookkeeper in accounting. Survivors include 4 daughters, Donna (Harold Jr.) Old of Okemos, MI, Nancy (Edward Makransky of Middleburg, FL, Susan (Joseph Leblang of East-lake and Mary-Jo (Ervin Thovson of Greenwood, IN; 9 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren.

Services will be 8:30 p.m. Monday, July 24, at Brunner Funeral Home Cremation Service, 8466 Mentor Mentor, OH, with Michael Guggenbiller, Chaplain at Hospice House, Cleveland, officiating. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be in Whitehaven Memorial Park, Mayfield Village, OH.

Mr. Louis T. VonBubla, age 171, passed away on Friday Irene E. Henry died July 15, 2000, at the age of 85. She was born in Leslie on December 18, 1914, the son of Arthur M.

and Alma I. (Higdon) Dut-ton and lived most of her life in Flint. She retired from Sears Roebuck in 1974 and was a gourmet cook at several establishments. Irene married John H. Henry in St.

Johns on September 15, 1950, and he survives her. Also surviving are one daughter, Allene (Eddie) Foland of Ashley; one son, Earl (Sharroh) Henry of Grand Blanc; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Kurncz of St. Johns; one sister-in-law, Jean Dutton of Maple Rapids; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one son, John Henry, one sister, Bessie (Davis) Bentley; and one brother, Eugene A. Dutton.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the Osgood Funeral Home, St. Johns. Memorials may be made to Genesys Hospice Care Center, 7280 S. State Goodrich, MI 48438.

He was born in Bay City on September 2, 1902, the son of Frederick Carl and Margaret (Mayer) Mau. He retired from Vickers, Inc. in September of 1962 as Production Superintendent. He was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Detroit where he held many offices, including Trustee, Secretary, Treasurer and President of the Congregation.

He is survivied by his wife, the former Marguerite Strick, whom he married on February 11, 1933, at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church. He also leaves a son, Robert E. (Beverly) Maue, Sr. of Ellsworth; a daughter, Audrey A.

(Charles) Olchefski of Livonia; 5 grandchildren, Robert E. Mau, Jr. of Emmett, Joseph A. Mau of St. Paul, MN, Susan L.

Mau of Dimondale, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Pratt and Allison Olchefski, both of Royal Oak; and a brother, Melvin W. (Ruth) Mau of Plymouth. Funeral and committal services will be held on Monday, July 24, 11 a.m. at Penzien Steele Funeral Home, 608 N. Madison (M-25), Bay City, MI 48708.

The Rev. LeRoy Westphal will officiate. Private burial will be at Floral Gardens Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Sunday from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made to St.

James Evangelical Lutheran Church in Detroit. morning, July 21, 2UUU, at his home. He was retired from the U.S. National Guard in Lansing. He was preceded in death by his wife, Deborah (Swarthout) VonBubla on May 6, 2000.

Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2000, at River Valley Community Church, corner of M-37 and 88th Newaygo. There will be no visitation.
