OWOSSO Walkers to break for reception The Owosso High School honor society will pay tribute Tuesday to a group of people who regularly use the school walkers. In inclement weather, walkers use the building before and after classes.

All got out safely and there were no injuries. The fire, which started just before 8 p.m., was confined to a portion of the kitchen exhaust fan, Cle-venger said. At one point, flames coming from a vent in the roof rose 10 feet into the air.

The fire was extinguished in about 15 minutes. Clevenger said the department's quick response prevented the fire from spreading to the building's 1 4-inch thick wooden roof. The fire caused about $3,000 damage. GRAND LEDGE Jaycees top cancer fund-raising goal The Grand Ledge Jaycees went over their goal for the Tune Up for Cancer fund-raiser. The group raised $6,370, the most ever in the event's four-year history, said president Les Algren.

All will be turned over to the Eaton County Unit of the American Cancer Society. Clingenpeel is a graduate of Alma College and has a masters degree from Central Michigan. She has been an educator for 34 years. Harrison recalled coming to the school to interview for a job about the same time Clingenpeel arrived. "They hired me on the spot and I like the job," she said.

EAST LANSING License office to test night hours The East Lansing Secretary of State office will be one of 18 branch offices to begin evening hours April 3. Under the plan, the office at 327 N. Abbott Road will open at II a.m. and close at 7 p.m. every Wednesday.

The evening hours are being tested as a no-cost alternative to Saturday hours that were eliminated in mid-January because of budget cuts. Normal branch hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., which will be continued other weekdays. Items taken consisted mainly of hand tools, but also included was a Milwaukee Saws All, valued at $240, and a Milwaukee Hammer Drill, valued at $300. Total value of property taken was about $2,500. Two sets of footprints from tennis shoe-type footwear were found leading to and from the building. Suspects: None. LEWIS EUGENE CLARK Grandville Formerly of Lansing Age 84, passed away March 22, 1991. Surviving are his wife, Anna; daughters, Jean Marie Truss of Lakeland, FL and Barbara Wight of Detroit; 3 grandsons, James Truss, Mark and Kurt Wight; 1 great grandson, Jason Truss; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lewis was a member and retiree of Local 650. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Monday at St. Pius Catholic Church, Grandville, with Fr.

John Najdowski as Celebrant. Interment Monday, 3 p.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Lansing. Visitation Saturday.

7-9 p.m. and Sun lived in SL Johns most of his life. He was a member of SL Joseph Catholic Church, the Ushers Club and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. Mr. Knight retired from both the U.S.

Postal Service and Federal Mogul Corp. He married Au-dra Hettler on March 17, 1935 and she survives him. Also surviving are 4 sons, Barry and Karen Knight of Marquette, Nicky and Joyce Knight, Tom and Linda Knight, Scott and Cindy Knight, all of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Melinda English.

A funeral liturgy will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 24, with interment at ML Rest Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Robert Lunsford officiating.

A Ceremonial Mass will be held 10 a.m. April 6, 1991 at SL Joseph Catholic Church. The Parish Rosary will be prayed 7 p.m. Saturday, and the of Rosary will be prayed at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Osgood Funeral Home.

Age 67, passed away on March 22, 1991. She was born in Gibson, TN on March 16, 1924 and has lived in Lansing since 1951. She was a member of Miller Road Bible Church. Surviving are 3 daughters, Brenda Davis-Morrow of Lansing, Marilyn E. Gors-line of Williamston and Sue Kellogg of Lansing; 8 grandchildren, Robert, Brent and Bridgitt Davis of Lansing, Mike and Jeff Gorsline, Todd, Toby and Lucas Kellogg; 2 sisters, Pauline and Stella; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Steven Davis. Religious services will be conducted by The Rev. William W. Barber, of Miller Road Bible Church, at 10 a.m. Monday, March 25, 1991 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lansing Chapel, with interment in Deepdale Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Robert and Brent Davis, Todd Kellogg, Kevin Foran and Rick Morrow. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 2-4 and 7-9 Age 48, died March 22, 1991 at the V.A. Medical Facility, Ann Arbor. He was born in Montgomery County, KY on June 29, 1942 to Floyd G. and Emma Alice (Utterback) Carpenter.

He married Debra Carpenter on August 25, 1989 in Ingham County and resided most of his life in the Lansing area. He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 412, Bath, MI. Surviving are wife, Debra Carpenter of 1 daughter, Angie Mae; and son, Joseph Ecton Carpenter, both at home; stepson, Gregory Allen Judge, also at home; mother, Emma Carpenter of Detroit; father, Floyd Glen-wood Carpenter of Detroit: 1 brother, Mr. Dennis Earl and wife, Heather Carpenter of Mt.

Clemens; and 2 nephews, Brian and Scott. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 1991 at 11 a.m. at the Smith-Carter Chapel, Elsie, MI. Interment in Ford Cemetery, Gratiot County. Friends may ROOSE, FRANK ARTHUR Lake Odessa Age 71, died Z5 March 22, 1991 in Ionia.

Mr. Roose was a resident of Sebewa Township since 1971, moving from Charlotte. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 4 years; and also was employed with General Motors and worked in the Press Room, Plant 1 for 28 years, retiring April 1, 1989. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army Air Corps.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Rodney Harding; and a brother, Charles Roose. Surviving are his wife, Marietta M. Roose, they were married May 7, 1960. Also surviving are daughter, Jean Robinson of Pot-terville; son, Robert (Myrtle) Roose of California; grandchildren, Lisa Roose-Church, Rich Roose, Cathy Robinson, Kim Robinson, Stanley Roose and Lansing Age 70, died Wednesday, March 20, 1991. Mrs.

Nosal was a member of St. Casimir Catholic Church and a volunteer at Ingham Medical Center. She had several jobs throughout her life, but her career and love in life was her family. Mrs. Nosal enjoyed traveling and camping with her family and loved the outdoors.

Surviving are her husband, Tony, 3 sons, Tom, Chuck and Tony, 1 brother, Floyd Picken; 4 grandchildren, Mark, Todd, Kimberly and Nicholas; 1 great grandchild, Andrew; niece, Marilyn Sweet; special friend, Shari Pomeroy; and several other loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, 1 1 a.m. at the Palmer-Bush Lansing Chapel with Rev. Fr. Lehman was born August 4, 1924 in Chicago, IL and had been a resident of the Lansing area since 1946.

He was a graduate of Grand Ledge High School. He worked part-time for WILS radio for 23 years and was owner and operator of "Nicks" Picnic Tables along with the help of his son. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army; and was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.

Surviving are his wife, Katherine 1 daughter, Sandy and her hus- KNIGHT, JR. WILLIAM S. St. Johns day, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Grandville Chapel of Cook Funeral Home (4235 Prairie), where a Parish Rosary will be held Sunday, 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, me Age 78, died March 21, 1991 at Lansing General Hospital. He was born in Barre, VT on August 24, 1912 the son of William and Hanna (Masson) Knight; and morial contributions may be made to St. Pius Building Fund..
