LocalState Lansing State Journal Thursday, March 14, 1991 2B GREATER LANSING DIGEST slayings of two Detroit teenagers in an Isbell street home. Ingham County Circuit Judge Thomas Brown passed sentence on Mitchell for his part in the killings of Earl Whitehead, 19, and Kevin Allen, 15, in an apartment at 701 Isbell St on Lansing's near-south side, said Assistant County Prosecutor Francesco Simone. Mitchell was convicted of two counts of felony murder by a jury on Jan. 10. On March 6, Circuit Judge Carolyn Stell sentenced Elmo Williams, 40, to 20 to 50 years in prison for his part in the slayings.

Williams in February pleaded guilty to two second-degree murder charges. Lansing police were stumped by the killings until they received a Crime Stoppers tip last year. MOUNT PLEASANT Conference to examine women's issues The Michigan Women's Studies Association Conference will be in the Bovee Center at Central Michigan University, March 22-23. Army, serving in the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, LOWRIE, ALLEN W. Williamston the Country Club of Lansing; and a Director of the American Road Builders Association. He was an Honorary Member of Tau Beta Pi Fraternity. Even more remarkable was his marriage of 73 years to his beloved wife, Virnie B.

Davidson, who survives him, along with a daughter, Virginia Zynda of Okemos; son and daughter-in-law, Richard A. and Beverly Davidson of Jerome, MI; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a son-in-law, Andrew S. Zynda of Lansing. Religious services will be conducted by the Rev. David L.

He was born September 20, 1896 in Saginaw County. Mr. Davidson was a pioneer in the road building industry in Michigan and surrounding states. Upon being discharged from the United States Army where he was a sergeant during World War he started the L.A. Davidson Construction Company in the early 1920's, at the same time that modern roads and highway bridges were first being constructed.

In the course of his career, he developed many innovative techniques and procedures for the construction of roads and bridges. During several years his company constructed as much as 10 of the highway construction program, including the interstate system in Michigan. His construction work is today being carried on by succeeding members of his family. Mr. Davidson was a member of the 5-person task force from the American Road Builders Association which helped design the Interstate Highway System.

Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Westminster Presbyterian Church. DOUGLAS, CONSTANCE E. (DYNES) "CONNIE" Lansing Constance Elizabeth (Dynes) Douglas, 83, of Lansing, died March 13, 1991 at Sparrow Hospital. Mrs.

Douglas was born May 22, 1907 in Guelph, Ontario, Canada. She was a graduate of Jackson High School and North Central College in Na-perville, IL. Mrs. Douglas began her teaching career at Webberville High School in 1930. She also taught at Everett Elementary, Maplehill Elementary and Lyons Elementary Schools in Lansing.

She retired from the Lansing School District in 1966. Mrs. Douglas was a member of Mt. Hope United Methodist Church. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 54 years, Maclin Phillip Douglas in 1987.

Surviving are two sons, Lee Vernon of Washington, D.C. and Phillip James and his wife, Karen Estelle of Lansing; 2 granddaughters, Wendy Lynne (Scott) Bates of Stanton and Lisa Ann Robert) Rossi of Oak-ville, Ontario, Canada. Religious services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16. 1991 in the Estes-Leadley Greater Lan WALSH, EDWARD A.

KLONT, STEVEN L. Houston, TX Formerly of Lansing Age 35, died Tuesday, March 5, 1991 in Houston, TX. He was born February 28, 1956 in Muskegon, MI. Steve attended Harry High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He enjoyed basketball and playing the drums in his spare time. He excelled at making friends everywhere he went. Steve will be missed by everyone whose life he touched. Surviving are his daughter, Sandra, age 12, of Germany; mother and father, Shirley SNYDER, DALE F. Battle Creek Formerly of Lansing Age 79, died Tuesday, March 12, 1991 at Battle Creek Health CenterLeila Site where he had been a patient since February 22.

Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Helen L. (Howald); daughter, Sharon Jaqua of Rochester, NY; son, Richard D. Snyder of Bar-rington, IL; 3 grandchildren; and sister, Dorothy M. Reames of Lansing. Funeral services 10:30 a.m.
